Located on the edge of the Nicoya Peninsular where nature filled jungle descends the hills to meet the tranquil waters of the Gulf of Nicoya, we feel very privileged and grateful to have been invited to work in this truly unique environment. This 3 stage master plan has been crafted to create a nature filled community, an industry leading wellness center and commercial facilities to serve the surrounding area. This project required a delicate and respectful approach to the existing landscape. We shared our clients vision that despite the generous permitted development in the area we wanted to create a master plan that treads lightly and ensures the preservation of the existing ecosystem for the flora, fauna and the generations of people that will come to call this beautiful spot home. This has been achieved by limiting the number of residential lots to 12 with generous 3500-7500m2 sites. This ensures privacy and immersion in nature for the residents, low traffic volumes and low density detached housing separated by thick, pristine jungle corridors to allow for the uninterrupted natural rhythm of the area’s wildlife.


Stage 2 of the development will see the construction of a class leading wellness center comprising pools, fitness facilities, teaching pavilions, a restaurant and a number of ocean front prefabricated off grid dwellings. Prefabrication will allow for minimal disruption during the construction period and a significantly reduced timeframe, further limiting the impact of the project. Stage 3 will see the completion of a number of small scale commercial units in keeping with style and ethos of the project. These commercial units will serve the residential community both existing and future and visitors to the area wishing to enjoy the surrounding trails, beaches and waters.

12 newly titled lots for private development.

The master plan included the division of 12 newly titled lots to be sold for the private development of ocean view, stream front homes in the nature filled Santolar Community. Each lot includes private access to the nature trails and beaches of the neighbouring Santolar Wellness Center and its industry leading health and fitness facilities.
